PALO ALTO, Calif. – His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, attended a commemoration event at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto, California.
The event was co-sponsored by the Oshman Family JCC, the AJC San Francisco, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco, and the Consulates General of Israel and Greece. The evening included a reception and the Screening of the film Life Will Smile, a compelling 40-minute documentary that tells the story the Jewish community on the Greek island of Zakynthos, the only case in Europe of the complete survival of a Jewish community during the Holocaust.
Also present at the event were His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, the Honorable Eleni Kounalakis, Lt. Governor of California; Consul General of Greece, Antonios Sgouropoulos; and Deputy Consul General of Israel, Matan Zamir.
